Azadegan Oil Field Development Plan
(The Biggest Onshore Discovered Oil Field)
It is the biggest Iranian oil field and one of the biggest oil field in the world,
which was discovered in 1997. This field is spread in area of 20km * 75km which is
located in 100km far from west of Ahwaz city. The capacity of field was estimated
to be 33 billion barrels. The reservoir of field is included in northern and southern
parts. Early production from the southern Azadegan field started in 1999 with capacity
of 25,000 barrels/day. The northern part is located on Iraqi border and common with Iraqi
Majnoun oil field. It is to be expected that the production from the northern part to be
commenced with a capacity of 5,000 barrels/day. The production is 260,000 barrels/ day
of crude oil in southern Azadegan and 70,000 in northern Azadegan.
